Springfield Garden Club Memorial Garden

Memorial Garden In 2002 The Springfield Garden Club created a Memorial Garden dedicated to the community of Springfield. The garden is located on the Toonerville Bike Path near the Gould's Mill iron bridge. The peaceful site overlooks the Black River and is a lovely spot to view the upstream rapids. This Memorial Garden and walkway is a fitting way to remember a loved one or to honor a family member.

In order to raise awareness for ongoing breast cancer research, The Federated Clubs of Vermont asked all VT clubs to participate in creating a garden featuring all pink flowers. The Springfield Club chose the iron bridge site to feature the pink plantings and this remains an ongoing activity each year for club members to honor both friends and family who are cancer survivors as well as those who have passed.

Memorial Garden Adjacent to the "Plant it Pink Memorial Garden" the club maintains a walking path made of brick pavers, many of which are engraved in remembrance of a loved one, or in honor of a friend or family member. If you know of someone who might wish to purchase a paver, please email Sue McCausland by
